Physical Education ASSESSMENT
PE (70% of final mark) + HEALTH (30% of final mark) = 100% FINAL PE & HEALTH MARK
WEEKLY ASSESSMENT:
At least once a week the teacher will assess students movement and participation in learning the outcomes being worked on in the unit.
UNIT ASSESSMENTS:
Every unit the teacher will formally assess one or two skills required for participation in the sport, as well as informally assess their knowledge of the rules pertaining to the sport.
TERM ASSESSMENTS:
In the first and third term students will be tested on their fitness in the categories of Cardiovascular Endurance, Muscular Endurance & Flexibility. Students are marked on their completion of the tests as well as their goal setting for their future tests, not on how well they performed in the test compared to others.
In the second term students will write their Fitness Unit Quiz, testing them on information they will have learned, relating to fitness management.
FITNESS THURSDAYS:
This year I am placing a lot more emphasis on trying to work on our students fitness management and development, because I strongly believe that as our students improve their fitness, they will also find a lot more enjoyment in their physical activity participation. Students will feel more empowered and able to engage in activity. They will experience an increase in self-esteem and even an increase in their academic achievement.
FRIDAY FUNDAYS:
Throughout the week the teacher will choose a group of students who will get to choose what games are played the next Friday.
Classes will lose the privilege of their game days if during the weekend there are more than 3 virtues assignments that are given to students in the class.
